Entertaiment means something affording pleasure or diversion; a diverting entertainment such as a play. It may also refer to a form of entertainment that is considered highbrow or even elitist, such as the arts like music, poetry, and satire. In children, entertainment often takes the form of play, which prepares them for adult responsibilities such as child rearing and social interaction (through dolls and group games); develops their motor skills needed for sports and music; and stimulates the mind through puzzles like crosswords and jigsaws. One of the most famous examples of entertainment is the story of Scheherazade, a Persian professional storyteller who saves her own life through her stories.
